UFC 279 Full Card Picks and Betting Tips

Well, you may have noticed that I never put out the preview for Nate Diaz vs Khamzat Chimaev yesterday. I was somewhat busy early in the morning and then by the time I got home, all hell was breaking loose. I have to assume that, by now, you know that Khamzat Chimaev badly missed weight after being distracted all fight week and forced the entire card to be rearranged. I won't get too much into it here as I don't know that my readers for these picks and bets are really looking for my opinion on talking points, but I do think Khamzat looks really bad for now. To be causing issues and being involved in chaos with two people that he wasn't scheduled to fight, Paulo Costa and Kevin Holland, and then showing up 7.5 lbs over the limit and not really seeming to care all that much looks really bad. I'm not sure there is an easier way to get on Dana's bad side than to pull stuff like this and put events in jeopardy. Dana isn't as involved as he was back in the day, but h...

UFC Paris Round Up: What's Next For Some of The Big Winners From The Card?

As we finish up with the coverage for last weekend's UFC Paris, we're going through the round up now. If you're new, that is essentially a condensed version of the longer fallout posts that focus on only a single fight. I'll briefly go through the winners, their performances, and a possible opponent for their next fight. The Paris event turned out to be a good one, even though a lot of the fights were kind of low level with a lot of debuting fighters. That set a lot of the veterans up for success, but they still had to actually take care of business. Let's not waste any time. Stephanie Egger picked up a solid bounce back win after finishing Ailin Perez with a submission late in the second round. Egger seemed to have the clear advantage heading into the fight and it played out as if that were the case. Egger was able to use her judo and overall grappling prowess to largely control Perez for a majority of the fight. Perez really had no answers and once Egger locked t...

UFC Paris Fallout: What's Next For Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa?

The UFC's first event in France went virtually as well as it could have and that was capped off by a really fun main event that saw Ciryl Gane best Tai Tuivasa via knockout late in the 3rd round. I thought that this fight really had a little bit of everything and played out about as well as the UFC could have wanted from an entertainment standpoint. It really showcased everything this fight had to offer before we got the knockout. This only further clogs up the top of the heavyweight division, which is just a really strange situation overall. We have a lot to talk about on that front, so let's not waste anymore time.  Ciryl Gane fought very well and I think that may have been my favorite performance of his as he did a lot of things that I wanted to see from him. I think I said it in the preview, and if I didn't then I thought it to myself, but I wanted to see a slightly more aggressive version of Gane and that is exactly what we got. Gane is a tremendous athlete and a real...

UFC Paris Full Card Picks and Betting Tips

After no UFC and very little MMA in general last week, we're back with a pretty big event as the UFC makes it's debut in Paris, France. This card is kind of strange as it takes a few really good fights and pairs them with a few decent fights and then a lot of really low level bouts. I'm not complaining about it, but it is just a very odd structure. In my opinion, the best way to construct a card is to have a steady build with each fight getting progressively higher level (doesn't necessarily translate to a better fight) until you cap it off with a good main event. This card feels like it has very hard lines between the levels and not a steady progression where each fight is just one step up from the previous. Regardless, this should end up being a pretty decent afternoon of action and I'm ready for it. Of course, the week off has me excited, but still couldn't get me to start typing this at a decent hour so, in for another late night. Just to be clear,  my pick...
